Summer Lee is running on a platform that calls for environmental justice:
Allegheny County remains one of the worst in the country when it comes to protecting the air we breathe and the water we drink. Our risk factors for cancer, asthma and more are off the charts. Pittsburgh’s recent lead crisis is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to our aging infrastructure, particularly in working-class communities.
Many of the communities of this district have borne the brunt of air and water pollution in Pennsylvania. A recent report estimated that 35 percent of the children of the Woodland Hills School District suffer from asthma—an unthinkable number in more privileged areas of our state.
Meanwhile, climate change poses a catastrophic threat, one our leaders have failed to address. As state representative, I will be a tireless advocate and organizer for protecting our environment, and all of us who must live in it.
Why so few candidates in Pennsylvania? There were some great candidates we endorsed in the Pennsylvania primaries who unfortunately lost their races. And, we’re sure we missed some. If we did, please send us an email at info[at]citizensregenerationlobby.org.
